One of the best photo galleries ever is the Fraenkel Gallery in S.F. - and why I didn’t drop the piddlin’ $300 to $800 bucks on some great black and white images I’ll never know. Just plain epic antiquarian works! Another good one I came across was the Weinstein Gallery in Minneapolis, which handles sales of Robert Polidori among others. .talk about great Katrina images …whew.
but… while in New Orleans I found a total jewel - A Gallery For Fine Photography in New Orleans. Wendy and I were gobsmacked - we walked out in a daze - a small intimate gallery, with approachable owners selling works by Arbus, Curtis, Cartier-Bresson, Steichen, Penn and others, whew. .
The founder is Joshua Mann Pailet, who’s a damn good photographer too. It’s a gallery, which is museum in it’s own right! And would some generous soul buy this classic b&w item for me, please?
