Hatch New Mexico - the Chile Capital of The World. . . ! but we were on our way, hell bent for the West Coast so we did not stop…huge, bloated garlands, heaps of chili peppers hanging from road side stands left and right. What was striking was the the scads of peppers on the galvanized roofs drying out for market…In the Southwest, you’ll note that Hatch Brand condiments are all over. . in fact after all these years, I think a little Enchilada sauce is the key to a good Chili! I had a great vegetarian chili at the Passion Pie in Truth or Consequences NM and there just seemed to be a great robust dark edge to it. .

But what really caught my image eye was the inadvertent menagerie roadside, behind a fence across from a tamale place…near the high school (?) old parade goods?, someones cool stuff? Have you ever seen animated CAT scans of people’s brains, looking like candle wax ebbing and flowing? Well this vision looked like a snap shot, a single slice from a CAT scan of someone’s dreams or memories… a large recollection, dropped down on a corner. . just there…

yes I will spell it CHILI and CHILE just to make sure keywords go all over…

Infinite City by Rebecca Solnit - if you’re a savant groupie, she’s definitely a candidate for your swoons and pining over at distance. South of Market (SOMA) was gasping it’s last working class historical breath when I left in ‘92.. now that 280 is down, the new ball park in full swing, and all the new business buildings and residences are in place - a lot of great grit is gone…

Infinite City is a book of maps, all about San Francisco - the maps of place, people and events, the maps of the all the hearts who’ve beat the streets in the city by the bay… every heart is a map - every sigh a signpost - every laugh a lane…
